  • Overview

    Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process and compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products. Provide data to the Production, Engineering, Materials, and Planning Departments to improve the product quality. Cooperate with the Materials Department to ensure the quality of domestic suppliers.



    • Inspect MEAA products using such tools as micrometers, calipers, roundness testers, hardness testers, flux meters, push/pull gauge, coordinate measuring machine, surface tester, and thread gauge, among others, to ensure conformance to customer specifications.
    • Cooperate with the Materials Department to inspect incoming domestic parts and raw materials to ensure proper quality from suppliers.
    • Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
    • Interpret technical drawings, material, and/or formulas to calculate specified quality and reliability standards.
    • Perform product tests at specified stages in the production process, and test for such factors as dimensional, performance, and mechanical and/or electrical characteristics.
    • Set up and perform destructive and non-destructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics. Record and analyze test data using statistical process control procedures and prepare data in various forms.
    • Evaluate data and write summaries for MEAA departments, customers, and/or suppliers to validate or show deviations from existing standards. Suggest modifications in existing quality or production standards to achieve the highest quality within the limits of equipment capability. Complete daily and monthly defect reports.
    • Investigate unusual quality problems and help develop countermeasures to end the quality problem. Assist sorting of parts which do not meet established specifications.
    • Perform calibrations to maintain conformance to specifications (as required).
    • May be assigned to one or more production lines or other inspection functions at MEAA.
    • Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.
    • Support and assist the Quality Control Supervisor as needed.
    • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Quality Control Department by handling inquiries to their completion in a timely, courteous manner.
    • Travel to customer and/or vendor locations to inspect, audit, or resolve inquiries/complaints.
    • Know MEAA’s Quality Policy. Be able to fully discuss the importance of MEAA’s Quality Policy and how it impacts work.
    • Foster a supportive working relationship with production personnel, supervisors, and other departmental personnel by cooperation, communication, and positive relations.


    • Verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills.
    • Detailed knowledge of statistics and statistical process control.
    • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
    • Computer literate.
    • Broad knowledge of quality control, engineering, metrology, and production methods.
    • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents.
    • High School diploma or GED, plus a minimum of two years' experience in a manufacturing environment working in quality control, or equivalent.
    • Ability to travel and work overtime with short notice.
