  • Overview

    Supervise manufacturing and assembly processes for MEAA's multi-shift operation to achieve continuous and efficient production of high quality products. Direct and assign daily work assignments according to the production schedule.


    • Supervise the daily activities and staff required to assemble and manufacture Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America starters and alternators in accordance with company policies and procedures and customer specifications. Develop employees by training, cross-training, and providing continuing education opportunities.
    • Communicate with hourly employees to discuss machine operation and problems, production requirements, safety, suggestions and areas for improvement, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping/5S duties.
    • Ensure that quality and production standards and objectives are achieved. Verify the accuracy of data and reports.
    • Process, control, monitor, and distribute information from daily production reports and quality control check sheets to plan production and establish daily production goals, making adjustments as necessary. Plan and schedule regular and overtime hours necessary to meet production goals.
    • Plan, coordinate, conduct, and/or attend safety meetings, team meetings, production meetings, supervisor meetings, scheduling meetings, new model meetings, and engineering meetings.
    • Purchase small consumables, line supplies, and various packaging items to ensure efficient and safe production operations.
    • Conduct formal performance appraisals for hourly employees to assess employee performance and help employees improve their performance. Administer corrective disciplinary action; resolve employee complaints through impartial investigation, counseling, or corrective action.
    • Maintain and monitor hourly time records, disciplinary action records, attendance figures, daily production numbers, vacation records, paid absence records, accident reports, preventive maintenance check sheets, and quality control check sheets.
    • Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.
    • Investigate and implement employee suggestions to increase Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America's efficiency and productivity.
    • Support and assist the Production Manager as needed.
    • Support preventive maintenance programs.
    • Participate in the selection process by interviewing job candidates and/or evaluating temporary employees.
    • Know Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America’s Quality Policy. Be able to fully discuss the importance of Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America’s Quality Policy and how it impacts work.
    • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Production Department by acting as a liaison between production personnel and other departments to gain information, resolve problems, and enhance relations.


    For Quality and Environmental Systems the associate is responsible for understanding:

    • Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America’s policy and be able to fully discuss the importance of the policy and how his/her job can impact the customer and the environment.
    • The risks and consequences associated with deviating from management system procedures and the effect this can have on his/her employment at Mitsubishi Electic Automotive America.
    • Associates responsible for conformity to product requirements have the authority to stop shipment and stop production to correct quality problems.
    • The associate has the responsibility and authority to immediately inform supervision or management if another associate or department deviates from proper practices that may impact safety, quality, or the environment.


    • Verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal and group presentation skills.
    • Detailed knowledge of production techniques, processes, and methods.
    • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents related to Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America's products.
    • Hands-on technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and electronics applications.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Management, business, or related area, plus a minimum of three years' experience in the automotive manufacturing industry in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent.
