  • Overview

    Provide quality control technical support to ensure product is built in accordance with customer and MEAA specifications and quality requirements in the most efficient way while maintaining production flow.

    Responsibilities

    THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

     

    Support the Quality Control Department according to company policies and procedures. Maintain accepted standards of ethics, business and personal conduct, and adherence to organizational policies in job-related activities.

     

    Support the Quality Control Department in developing and implementing the department policy.

     

    Support ISO 14001and TS 16949 standards.

     

    Accomplish responsibilities by applying principles of Total Quality Management: fostering a team environment; facilitating team work; heightened/constant communications; problem identification and resolution.

     

    Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Quality Control Department and the Maysville Plant by acting as a liaison between Maysville departments, vendors, customers, Japanese Advisors and other MEAA/MELCO locations.

     

    Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.

     

    Support and assist the quality control management team as needed.

     

    Train and motivate self and others in the skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to perform all quality control responsibilities. Assist with the development of comprehensive training programs.

     

    Plan, coordinate, facilitate and/or attend meetings related to the efficient operation of the Maysville Plant including independent travel to customer and/or vendor locations to analyze and remedy quality problems to satisfaction in a courteous, timely manner, responding verbally and/or in writing.

     

    Communicate with vendors to familiarize them with MEAA quality control procedures; manage vendor quality and ability of quality assurance in all stages of production.

     

    Perform routine clerical tasks such as typing, purchase requirements, check requests, etc….

     

    Collect and research data for internal and external customer reports regarding changes in specifications, nonconforming materials, or other quality related issues.

     

    Read and interpret technical drawings; transfer analyzed information to electronic sources for reference as needed.

     

    Setup production machines using computer aided software to run product per customer and MEAA specifications and quality requirements (ECU line specific).

     

    Design, develop and implement testing to analyze product durability of products manufactured at MEAA – Maysville.

     

    Investigate and/or confirm line claim and/or defects using quality tools such as performance testing, endurance/environmental testing and visual inspection; reviewing quality trends; determining and tracking root cause(s); and recommend and/or implement countermeasures/corrective actions.

     

    Design and perform scheduled maintenance and repair testing equipment used by the Quality Control and Production Teams.

     

    Reduce equipment downtime and improve productivity through quality engineering tools.

     

    Recommend and implement systematic operational approaches and processes to achieve work results to avoid crisis situations. Solve problems relating to the quality of material, parts, processes or the product itself during all phases of operation and take corrective action to decrease future problems. Utilize accepted methods of problem solving and analysis to improve quality control productivity.

     

    For Quality and Environmental Systems, the associate is responsible for understanding:

    • MEAA’s policy and be able to fully discuss the importance of the policy and how his/her job can impact the customer and the environment.
    • The risks and consequences associated with deviating from management system procedures and the effect this can have on his/her employment at MEAA.
    • Associates responsible for conformity to product requirements have the authority to stop shipment and stop production to correct quality problems.
    • The associate has the responsibility and authority to immediately inform supervision or management if another associate or department deviates from proper practices that may impact safety, quality, or the environment.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

     

    Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering or other related technical area, plus a minimum of three years of experience in quality control in the electronics industry or equivalent. Prior experience working with engine control units a plus.

     

    Certification through the American Society for Quality CQE and CQA , or CSSBB (Certified Six Sigma Black Belt) a plus.

     

    Broad and detailed knowledge of quality control, engineering and production methods.

     

    Detailed/Significant knowledge of statistics, statistical process control and problem solving techniques.

     

    Detailed knowledge of ISO 14001, QS 9000 or TS 16949.

     

    Computer literate, emphasizing experience with Microsoft Office.

     

    Verbal, written and cross-cultural communication skills and ability to speak before groups.

     

    Ability to travel independently to customer locations and work extended hours with short notice.
