  • Overview

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:            

    Lead, assist and coordinate all activities necessary for the successful daily operation of a multi-person production line of automotive components (usually with more than 15 work stations). Continually advise and aid Supervisor with personnel and production concerns. Fill in for Supervisor if necessary.

     

    **Starting wage is $17.60/hour**

    **5 increases over 24 months**

    **$1.00 Shift Differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts**

    Responsibilities

    THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

     

     

    • Maintain written records, by model, of quantity and number of defects produced to date to determine inventory levels of parts and sub-assemblies; confirm that a sufficient number of parts are available to meet monthly customer requirements; communicate inventory discrepancies to Supervisor and various management personnel such as Production Scheduler, Warehouse Supervisor, and Buyer.
    • Assist and confirm quality control and engineering changes to production models, determine proper machine setups to achieve desired results, and communicate new model information to all affected personnel.
    • Inform Supervisor in the event of an unacceptable level of defects. If the situation is not remedied, may shut down production line to investigate further.
    • Coordinate training to assure workers are properly trained prior to beginning job; coordinate cross-training and job rotation schedules to enhance worker knowledge and promote safety.
    • Perform various employee relations tasks such as: help workers meet job goals and expectations; see that overtime potential is fairly distributed; foresee, handle, and resolve personnel conflicts before they affect the efficient operation of the production line; ensure that company policies and procedures are understood and followed by all workers; advise Supervisor of workers' attendance and behavioral concerns.
    • Schedule model changeovers to meet flexible monthly production demands. Assist Lead Operators in performing all model changeovers.
    • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks such as: replace damaged air cylinders, air hoses and hydraulic lines when necessary; assist with and oversee periodic machine lubrication and machine adjustments by Lead Operators.
    • Coordinate and conduct daily production and quality control meetings; review production schedule and discuss production concerns with workers and Supervisor.
    • Update log books and process check sheets to reflect part changes, model changes, and Information of Manufacturing Method Changes (IMMC’s). Verify that worker check sheets are completed and properly maintained.
    • Perform tasks with minimal supervision and keep Supervisor apprised of any employee, production, or machinery concerns.
    • Perform inventory counts on parts and/or finished goods. Perform basic math calculations to maintain accurate count of parts or finished goods received or shipped.
    • Maintain inventory of consumables and tools, and order them through the Supervisor as necessary.
    • Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean and orderly manner.
    • Oversee and assist with the daily maintenance of tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

     

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Must be able to work Overtime
    • Must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shift
    • Verbal, written and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal communication skills
