  • Overview

    Under limited supervision, responsible for performing accounting functions related to Sales/Pricing and Accounts Receivable, as well as other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    • Sales/Pricing and Other
    • Analyze and reconcile sales/cost of sales entries for all shipments made by MEAA.
    • Measure and record sales adjustments related to foreign currency transactions in comparison to budgeted standard exchange rates.
    • Analyze and report on sales in comparison to the business plan.
    • Accurately maintain all price records in accordance to J-Sox policy.
    • Calculate and record the impact of retro-active pricing adjustments based on data provided from Detroit planning and marketing.
    • Maintain up-to-date records and analysis of retro-active pricing reserves captured on the company’s balance sheet and recommend actions for resolution of price adjustments.
    • Invoice MELCO for various accommodation purchases and support agreements in a timely manner.
    • Maintain the fixed asset system to include the analysis of asset additions, disposals, and calculations of depreciation.
    • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of J-Sox documentation.
    • Accounts Receivable backup
    • Monitor and reconcile the trade A/R, inter-company A.R sub-ledgers and cash account to the general ledger.
    • Process month-end and year-end A.R system functions.
    • Post customer payments for assigned customers to the A/R sub-ledger.
    • Contact customers to resolve discrepancies and past due items in a timely, professional manner.
    • Prepare and analyze A/R aging reports on a monthly basis.
    • Prepare cash receipts and various A/R related journal entries for month-end.
    • Prepare and continuously update reports detailing the status and action plan for past due receivables.
    • Understand foreign currency transactions.
    • Understand electronic banking systems.
    • Keep abreast of current trends, practices, and laws related to field of expertise.
    • Support and assist the Accounts Receivable Supervisor as needed.
    • Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.
    • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Accounting Department by conducting business with outside contacts, auditors, and other MEAA departments in a timely and cooperative manner.

    For Quality and applicable site specific Environmental Systems, the associate is responsible for understanding:

    • MEAA’s policy and be able to fully discuss the importance of the policy and how his/her job can impact the customer and the environment.
    • The risks and consequences associated with deviating from management system procedures and the effect this can have on his/her employment at MEAA.
    • Associates responsible for conformity to product requirements have the authority to stop shipment and stop production to correct quality problems.
    • The associate has the responsibility and authority to immediately inform supervision or management if another associate or department deviates from proper practices that may impact safety, quality, or the environment.

    THE NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Understand foreign currency transactions.
    • Understand electronic banking systems.
    • Occasional travel to other MEAA locations as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related area, plus a minimum of one year’s experience in the field (automotive industry preferred), or equivalent.
    • Experience with JD Edwards software desirable.
    • Written, verbal, and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing quantitative and mathematical skills.
    • Broad knowledge of accounting methods, principles, and practices, emphasizing current auditing and tax standards.
    • Computer literate, especially in Microsoft Office programs specifically in Word and Excel.
