  • Overview

    Perform diversified administrative duties according to MEAA policies and procedures to support the Human Resources Department in the areas of salaried/hourly placement, payroll and benefit administration and general operational support.


    • Support Payroll by preparing accurate submission of bi-weekly, and special payroll administration duties according to FLSA requirements and MEAA pay policies and practices; verify timecard calculations and resolve discrepancies; input payroll data; verify accuracy of payroll; distribute checks and account for unclaimed checks.
    • Administer associate benefits programs including: the flexible benefits program which includes options for medical, dental, life, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, dependent life insurance, long term disability, and spending accounts; short term disability, 401(k) plan, and Educational Assistance programs.
    • Maintain up-to-date records on vacations, personal days, paid absence, leaves of absence, benefits enrollment, etc.
    • Answer associate questions concerning payroll and benefits by referring to various resources for information. Interpret policies, answer questions, and counsel associates regarding Human Resources matters.
    • Assist with orientation programs to explain MEAA policies and procedures and benefits programs.
    • Set-up and maintain files on all new associates.
    • Perform routine administrative duties as assigned, including preparing reports, distributing mail, completing check requests and purchase orders, filing, typing, copying, faxing, preparation of travel arrangement, preparation of catering, preparation of company-sponsored events, and assisting the other members of the Human Resources staff with special projects or as needed.
    • Operate HRIS databases to maintain documentation, verify accuracy of data, investigate causes for discrepancies and make necessary corrections.
    • Assist with the placement of advertisements and/or notification of the State Employment Services; evaluation of applications; scheduling and/or interviewing candidates; scheduling and administering employment tests, securing background checks; extending offers of employment; and scheduling post-offer employment physical examinations.
    • Assist with the placement of temporary workers to support all areas of the plant by establishing relationships with temporary employment agencies; placing orders for temporary workers and maintaining records to document temporary worker orders, performance, and cancellation.
    • Support administration of cafeteria vendor programs and uniform program.
    • Support other members of the Human Resources staff as needed.
    • Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.
    • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Human Resources Department by conducting business with outside contacts such as insurance carriers, physicians, etc. and other MEAA personnel in a timely and cooperative manner.


    Quality and Environmental Systems

      • Understand MEAA’s environmental policy, and how this position can impact the policy and the environment.
      • Know the consequences that deviating from documented procedures/practice can have on the environment.
      • The associate has the responsibility and authority to immediately inform supervision or management if another associate or department deviates from proper environmental practice.
      • Know MEAA’a Quality Policy. Be able to fully discuss how this position supports the quality objectives.
      • The associate has the ability to suspend production when product quality becomes questionable.




    • High School Graduate or GED, plus a minimum of three years’ experience in payroll and/or benefits administration function or equivalent.
    • Broad knowledge of human resource issues, EEO, employee benefits, and payroll practices.
    • Computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office Programs.
    • Verbal, written and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal communication skills.
