  • Overview

    Assist the Production Manager in planning long and short-term plant operations. Manage and direct the activities and staff for entire range of production functions to attain production goals consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements. Supervise Production Supervisors.


    • Supervise the daily activities of the Production Supervisors to ensure production, efficiency, and quality goals are met. Supervise in accordance with company policies and procedures. Develop associates by training, cross-training, and providing continuing education opportunities.
    • Prepare and maintain production reports for upper management.
    • Recommend changes in the production method or material handling procedures to increase the efficiency and production of Company operation.
    • Forecast labor requirements and communicate those needs to the Human Resources Department so the appropriate number of employees can be made available.
    • Plan, coordinate, and/or attend meetings related to the efficient operation of Company.
    • Communicate with the Engineering, Quality Control, Materials, and Planning Departments regarding machine problems, quality problems, raw material and parts problems, and orders that may be late to the customer.
    • Communicate and represent concerns of production supervisors to management and from management on a daily basis.
    • Assist the Production Manager in planning long and short-term plant operations.
    • Keep the Production Manager informed of the status of production and any problems that may occur.
    • Travel to customer, vendor, and/or Company locations to enhance relations, improve operations, and solve complaints.
    • Support and assist the Production Manager as needed.
    • Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.
    • Know company Quality Policy. Be able to fully discuss the importance of the Quality Policy and how it impacts work.
    • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Production Department by acting as a liaison between the Production Department and other departments, customers, vendors, and other Company locations.
    • Participate in the selection process by interviewing hourly job candidates.
    • Assist in the formation and facilitation of improvement processes/teams.


    Quality and Environmental Systems

    • Understand MEAA’s environmental policy, and how this position can impact the policy and the environment.
    • Know the consequences that deviating from documented procedures/practice can have on the environment.
    • The associate has the responsibility and authority to immediately inform supervision or management if another associate or department deviates from proper environmental practice.
    • Know MEAA’s Quality Policy. Be able to fully discuss how this position supports the quality objectives.
    • The associate has the ability to suspend production when product quality has become questionable.


    • Verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal communication skills.
    • Broad and detailed knowledge of production, engineering, and quality control methods, procedures, and techniques.
    • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents related to MEAA's products.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional (Production, Engineering and Quality Control) improvement teams using principles of Lean Manufacturing and Time Standard Improvement:
    • Excellent personal time management skill.  Must be able to adjust priorities on a regular basis to meet production requirements.
    • Computer literate.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Management, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, plus a minimum of five years' experience in the automotive manufacturing industry in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent.
    • Detailed knowledge of production, engineering, and quality control methods, procedures, and techniques.
