  • Overview

    • Ensure the continuous operation of MEAA's production by responding quickly to line stops or machine trouble, investigating and solving quality problems caused by machinery or materials, investigating and improving poor machine conditions, repairing equipment and maintaining spare parts.
    • Assist in the layout, installation and debugging of new equipment by working with production and other related personnel on initial start-up and troubleshooting.
    • Guide and train Machine and/or Die Maintenance Technicians on proper methods and techniques to repair/maintain machinery and/or dies.
    • Keep necessary personnel informed of equipment problems or potential trouble.       Schedule repairs in cooperation with the production supervisors and schedulers.
    • Read, write, draw, and understand technical drawings and material.
    • Interact with production personnel to ascertain equipment problems and observe equipment to determine what repairs or modifications are necessary.
    • Routinely check equipment for potential safety hazards and implement safety improvements promptly after a need is identified.
    • Remain informed of new manufacturing technologies and investigate their potential applications. Recommend incorporation of new technology for company applications where feasible and practical.
    • As needed, operate and program numerically controlled (NC/CNC) equipment and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's). Utilize equipment specific software for set up, programming & troubleshooting of automation devices, including (but not limited to) robots, linear actuators, servo drives, variable frequency drives, HMI screens & vision systems.
    • Operate hand tools and machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, saws & welding equipment as needed.
    • Prepare technical reports, charts, and graphs documenting production/machine efficiencies and preventive maintenance history. Analyze trends and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Establish and/or maintain preventive maintenance programs, operation/maintenance manuals & equipment documentation (mechanical & electrical drawings).
    • Work together with Engineering Supervision & Management to establish and/or maintain long-term plans for capital investments required to improve productivity and/or running condition of equipment.
    • Work during some holiday and shutdown periods to repair and/or improve facilities, equipment, and/or production lines.
    • Travel as needed for training or for customer or vendor visits.
    • Support and assist the Engineering Supervisor as needed.
    • Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.


    For Quality and Environmental Systems the associate is responsible for understanding:

    • MEAA’s policy and be able to fully discuss the importance of the policy and how his/her job can impact the customer and the environment.
    • The risks and consequences associated with deviating from management system procedures and the effect this can have on his/her employment at MEAA.
    • Associates responsible for conformity to product requirements have the authority to stop shipment and stop production to correct quality problems.
    • The associate has the responsibility and authority to immediately inform supervision or management if another associate or department deviates from proper practices that may impact safety, quality, or the environment.


    • Verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal communication skills and technical writing/drawing skills.
    • Broad and detailed knowledge of engineering, maintenance, and production methods.
    • Ability to use machine shop tools and equipment.
    • Computer literate, with emphasis on Microsoft Office.
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
