  • Overview

    Operate assembly machinery and/or manually assemble components into precision automotive subassemblies and parts in a team-based environment. Visual inspection and packaging of components, subassemblies and assemblies/parts for conformance to customer standards. General housekeeping of work area to ensure a safe and clean work environment. Achieve operational goals of the Production Team according to production standards to meet customer product, quality, and delivery specifications.

    Responsibilities

    • Position, lift, assemble, inspect and pack/unpack components to make subassemblies and parts.
    • Monitor equipment, perform basic mathematical calculations of simple addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division to maintain accurate counts or parts produced and parts inventory and/or determine program modifications.
    • Perform minor tool changes, mechanical adjustments and model changeovers as required.
    • Operate various hand tools, correct repairable defects and machine troubleshoot minor malfunctions correctly and safely to assemble sub-assemblies and products.
    • Recognize, understand, and correct/reset basic alarms on machines.
    • Regularly confirm work instructions to assure proper assembly and manufacturing operations are documented.
    • Properly identify defects such as with completed defect tags, placed in proper location (totes or morning market area) for further inspection.
    • Understand proper disposal of waste products and chemical usage including cleaning of small chemical spills.
    • Monitor and adjust automated machine settings to produce quality parts in accordance with model specifications.
    • Read, write, understand and follow written instructions and basic mechanical drawing specifications for machine operation procedures and changeover requirements.
    • Inspect subassemblies and/or assemblies/parts for defects by operating specialized test equipment, measurement devices, and visual checking. Identify and correct defects appropriately.
    • Judge acceptability of parts compared to customer standards.
    • Complete production logs, reports, check-sheets, lot control cards and other daily reporting paperwork to help identify and eliminate process errors according to Company procedures.
    • Maintain line side inventory of parts and supply parts to the line. Pack parts and/or finished assemblies/parts in preparation for shipping.
    • Proper usage of hand-held scanner as applicable.
    • Position and secure various components on board of belt conveyor for assembly.
    • Understand differences in distinguishing between models being assembled and inspected.
    • Perform daily machine start-up and shut-down procedures, including cleaning of machinery.
    • Perform scheduled production check-sheets on the production equipment.
    • Maintain tools, equipment and work area in clean and orderly manner in accordance to MEAA’s 5-S Program.
    • Operate all equipment, including hand pallet truck to move finished parts to temporary storage locations.
    • Rotate among the Line/Machine Attendant workstations on assigned line on a regular basis and/or any other Line/Machine Attendant work stations.
    • Participate in and problem-solving discussions to resolve issues related to production, quality, materials, machine and/or any other area affecting efficient production.
    • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on the production equipment (i.e.: pushing back solder waste on solder wave machine every 2 hours).
    • Assist with on-the-job training for others.
    • Responsible for activities associated with handling of hazardous waste.
    • Perform soldering, soldering condition recognition and circuit board component recognition as required.
    • Recognize and understand good solder conditions. Correct with soldering iron if needed.
    • Follow company policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    High School Graduate or GED

    Previous factory experience preferred

    Knowledge of electronics and operation of material handling equipment preferred.
